Al Sayegh chairs discussion session with major German companies in UAE

ABU DHABI, Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, has chaired a discussion session held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) with major German companies operating in the UAE.

This came in the presence of Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Saeed Al Fahim, Chairman of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce; and Oliver Oehms, Executive Director of the Council.

During the session held at MoFAIC headquarters in Abu Dhabi, attendees underscored the importance that the UAE attaches to sustainable partnerships with the business community and foreign investments within the country, especially with German companies, as part of a model of fruitful economic partnership and distinguished UAE-German relations.

In this regard, Al Sayegh noted the importance of strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations, pointing to the pivotal role played by the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of council members in recent days, highlighting the tangible outcomes of the joint UAE-German team working on matters concerning the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which embodies the two countries’ future vision for this sector.

The session witnessed an open discussion about the challenges and opportunities faced by German companies in the UAE market, including investment opportunities in promising strategic sectors such as clean energy, infrastructure, and technology.

In this context, Al Sayegh and Al Zeyoudi underscored the importance of following up on the observations submitted by German companies concerning opportunities and challenges. Subsequent meetings will be held at various levels in coordination with the German-Emirati Business Council to ensure the sustainability of the partnership and achieve desired goals to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.

Abu Dhabi Chamber discusses boosting economic cooperation with Malaysian Ambassador

ABU DHABI, Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, received Mohammad Tarid bin Sufian, Ambassador of Malaysia to the UAE, at the Chamber’s tower in Abu Dhabi to discuss the prospects of expanding economic cooperation between the business communities in both countries.

During the meeting, attended by Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Chamber, Al Mazrouei highlighted the Chamber’s efforts to increase economic cooperation between businesses in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia, adding that the UAE in general, and Abu Dhabi in particular, is continuing to bolster its relations with southeast Asian countries.

Al Mazrouei underscored the importance of sharing ideas to increase the share of national products in Malaysian markets, which act as a window for Southeast Asian countries.

He added that Abu Dhabi is open to foreign businesses, due to its position as one of the most attractive economies for direct foreign investments regionally and internationally supported by its conducive investment legislation and incentives.

Al Mazrouei also highlighted the need to double the efforts to provide Malaysian investors with more facilities and activate communication channels between Emirati businesses and investors and their Malaysian counterparts.

The Malaysian Ambassador underlined his country’s eagerness to boost economic relations with Abu Dhabi and increase visits between entrepreneurs in both countries.

He added that Dubai Expo 2020 acts as a direct economic platform that serves the public interest.

Abu Dhabi Smart City Summit 2nd advisory board meeting gathers over 40 high-level stakeholders

ABU DHABI, The second advisory board meeting for the Abu Dhabi Smart City Summit held recently brought together more than 40 critical governmental and private-sector stakeholders to discuss plans for the upcoming edition.

The summit is taking place under the patronage of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT). It is supported by more than 25 governmental and semi-governmental entities from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s federal authorities.

This prestigious gathering of high-level decision-makers will be held physically on 23rd and 24th November 2021, at the Conrad Abu Dhabi – Etihad Towers, to consolidate initiatives to create the Smart City of the Future.

Salem Almemari, Executive Director of Municipal Services Sector at Abu Dhabi City Municipality and the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Smart City Steering Committee, chaired the advisory board meeting.

The meeting contributed to developing an integrated framework for the second edition, which is considered one of the region’s leading events to unify efforts in planning and developing resilient technology-led future cities.

The DMT said it is working closely with all public and private sector partners to develop an integrated vision, which reflects the leadership’s efforts to create community and aspiration-driven cities of the future, with flexible infrastructure capable of coping with all variables, while having sustainable planning based on sound data and forecasts of Abu Dhabi’s demographic and geographic growth. The department stressed that the summit represents a valuable opportunity to enable everyone to achieve these goals and more. It is an exceptional experience and a step towards the vision of the cities of the future.

Abu Dhabi International Boat Show begins on Wednesday

ABU DHABI, The third edition of the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show (ADIBS) is set to be held from 13th to 16th October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre, with the participation of 353 exhibitors and brands from 28 countries.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, ADIBS is the first boating, fishing, and marine sports event to be held in the UAE during the period of recovery from the current circumstances affecting the world, and is organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) in strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Maritime and a plethora of companies specialising in vital marine sectors.

The show will be held at the ADNEC marina opposite to Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre at Arabian Gulf Street.
