AD Ports Group, Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals sign MoU to develop, operate multipurpose terminal in Safaga Port

ABU DHABI, AD Ports Group, a leading facilitator of trade and logistics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals, the commercial arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Transportation, for the development and operation of a multipurpose terminal in Safaga Port.

The signing was conducted on the sidelines of the 4th Smart Transport, Logistics and Traffic Fair and Forum for the MEA Region (TransMEA 2021), held under the patronage of Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The legal document was signed in the presence of Kamel El Wazir, Minister of Transportation in Egypt; by Saif Al Mazrouei, Head of Ports Cluster, AD Ports Group; and Rear Admiral Abdul Qadir Darwish, Chairman of the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals.

Under the MoU, AD Ports Group will explore investment opportunities and conduct feasibility and local market studies related to developing and operating a multipurpose terminal in Safaga Port, with both parties benefitting from the exchange of expertise and best practices. The MoU aims to support the growth of the Middle East’s industrial and logistics sectors, as well as assist in opening new markets for Egyptian exports via direct maritime routes across the Arabian Gulf, East Asia, and Africa regions. It will also facilitate commercial activities operating within the Golden Triangle and Upper Egypt and will elevate the country’s ability to compete with other nations that manufacture similar industrial products.

Rear Admiral Abdul Qadir Darwish, Chairman of the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals expressed his appreciation for the newly announced cooperation with AD Ports Group, noting that the MoU will serve as a promising starting point for further collaborations, which will provide a wide range of services beneficial to each nation’s trade and logistics sectors.

Commenting on the MoU, Rear Admiral Darwish, said, “The investment environment in Egypt is rich with opportunities, and it is crucial that we advance and enhance seaports in Egypt so that they become centres for further commercial development, and competitive with other international ports. In turn, this will greatly benefit our nation’s national economy.”

‘Scholarships Office’ organises introductory meeting for 2,688 students

ABU DHABI, The Scholarships Office of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs has organised a virtual introductory meeting for distinguished students in the twelfth grade, which was attended by more than 2,688 students from public and private schools, in addition to students of the Institute of Applied Technology in Abu Dhabi.

The introductory meeting aims to introduce the students with the terms of the President scholarship for distinguished students, the scholarship programme inside the country, and the meteorological scholarship. It also aims to raise the students’ awareness of the requirements and steps for applying to international universities inside and outside the country.

The meeting included a welcoming speech delivered by Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Board Member of the Scholarships Office, during which he affirmed the leadership’s interest in science and education and its keenness to advance it across all fields. He also lauded the continuous follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and his care for distinguished students.

Al Dhaheri called on students to exert more effort to achieve the highest academic degrees and be part of the country’s developmental path.

Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Bahrain witness exchange of MoUs between UAE, Bahrain

ABU DHABI, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, witnessed today, a ceremony for exchange of memoranda of understanding for further the development and prosperity in both countries.

An MoU on higher education and another one on the executive programme for joint cooperation in education for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 were exchanged between Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology, and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Bahraini Minister of Labour and Social Development, exchanged an MoU on labour and human resources development, while Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health and Prevention, and Faeqa bint Saeed AlSaleh, Bahraini Minister of Health, exchanged an MoU on health cooperation.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, exchanged an MoU on trade and investment cooperation with Zayed bin Rashid AlZayani, Bahraini Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

An MoU on industry and advanced technology was exchanged by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Zayed bin Rashid AlZayani, Bahraini Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

A declaration on recognising the UAE as a partner in Bahrain Global Sea-Air Logistics Hub was exchanged by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Zayed bin Rashid AlZayani, Bahraini Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, exchanged an MoU on transportation and communications.

An MoU on climate change and environmental cooperation was exchanged by Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change, and Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Dainah, Chief Executive Office of the Supreme Council for Environment of Bahrain.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Dainah, Chief Executive Office of the Supreme Council for Environment of Bahrain, exchanged an MoU between ADNOC and Tatweer Petroleum. They also exchanged an MoU between ADNOC and Oil and Gas Holding Company of Bahrain.

An MoU between Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and Bahrain Bourse was exchanged by Saeed Hamad Al Dhaheri, ADX CEO, and Khalifa Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse.

Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, and Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khailfa, CEO of National Cybersecurity Strategy of Bahrain, exchanged an MoU on cybersecurity.

An MoU between Dubai Logistics World (DLW) and Bahrain Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications was exchanged by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO of DP World, and Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications.

UAE Falcons take medal tally to 46 on third day of 26th World Jiu-Jitsu Championship

ABU DHABI, UAE’s Under-21 national jiu-jitsu team sealed another memorable medal haul on the third day of the country’s participation in the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City, on Tuesday, taking the nation’s total medal tally to 46, including 16 gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze.

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office, attended the opening ceremony of the 26th World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, taking place at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, until 11 November.

UAE announces 72 new COVID-19 cases, 90 recoveries, and no deaths in last 24 hours

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 285,711 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced 72 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 740,572.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

The Ministry added that no COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, with the death toll remained unchanged at 2,142.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 90 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 735,074.
