DMT to redevelop Al Bateen Ladies Beach

ABU DHABI, The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has unveiled its plans to redevelop the Al Bateen Ladies Beach with public amenities to enhance its appeal as a leisure and adventure destination for residents and visitors.

The project aligns with DMT’s vision to increase recreational facilities, improve the quality of life in the emirate, and develop the emirate’s infrastructure and the community’s growth by providing integrated recreational facilities and high-quality services.

The redevelopment of Al Bateen Ladies Beach covers more than 36,580 sqm and will feature a restaurant, cafes, a prayer room and a convenience store.

During the redevelopment project, Al Bateen Ladies Beach will be temporarily closed from 4th July until its completion in the second quarter of 2023.

It will also include a 500-metre exercise loop/jogging track, an outdoor/indoor gym, a paddle court, a volleyball court and a swimming pool, showers facilities and changing rooms to provide resident ladies and tourists with unrivalled beach experiences in complete privacy.

Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Acting Director-General of Operational Affairs in DMT, said, “The project aims to develop the beach to become one of the best destinations in Abu Dhabi City for ladies, which offers them leisure activities with more privacy.

“We want the women of Abu Dhabi to access world-class facilities at the beach while having access to privacy.”

An integral element of the Al Bateen Ladies Beach redevelopment project comprises child-friendly park facilities with slides, trampolines, and swing ropes adhering to the highest standards in safety and quality.

President issues Federal Decree renaming Ministry of Presidential Affairs

ABU DHABI, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a Federal Decree-Law renaming the Ministry of Presidential Affairs as the Presidential Court.

The Decree stipulated amending some provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. 4 of 2004 regarding the establishment and organisation of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. The phrase “Presidential Affairs” will be replaced with “Presidential Court”, provided that the responsibilities, tasks and roles remain the same as stated in the aforementioned Federal Decree-Law.

The Decree also stipulated that the phrase “Minister of Presidential Affairs” shall be replaced by “Minister of the Presidential Court,” and “Ministry” should be replaced by “Court”.

MoFAIC receives credentials copy from new Ambassador of Republic of South Sudan

ABU DHABI, Abdulla Mohamed Alblooki, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Protocol Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation received a copy of the credentials of Garang Garang Diing, Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan.

Alblooki wished the South Sudanese Ambassador success in the performance of his duties and in enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the UAE and South Sudan.

The newly appointed Ambassador expressed his pleasure at representing his country in the United Arab Emirates, which enjoys a prestigious regional and international position under the visionary policy of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

UAE President has ordered restructuring of low-income citizens support programme: Hessa Buhumaid

ABU DHABI, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the restructuring of a low-income citizens’ support programme and raising its budget from AED14 billion to AED28 billion, underscoring the will of the UAE’s leadership to provide low-income families with decent lives, Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, has said.

“The ministry’s action teams are implementing the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a timely manner to support eligible citizens nationwide, in coordination with relevant local authorities,” Buhumaid said.

The programme is a key step in the social action sector and confirms the country’s determination to launch major governmental initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life, most notably low-income families, she added, noting that tomorrow, the programme will announce further details about the provision of social aid to citizens.

RTA signs agreement to trial eco-friendly electric bus

DUBAI, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the Australian bus manufacturer BusTech Group to test the operation of an eco-friendly, zero-emission electric bus to verify its operational feasibility in Dubai’s climatic environment.

The trial run will also test innovative technologies to enhance the customer service experience and enable the bus to operate as a smart asset seamlessly integrated with Dubai’s environmental mass transit system. The assessment will also include the bus benefits and performance as well as the feedback from drivers and customers to continuously identify improvement areas.

Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency, RTA, and Dan Marks, CEO, BusTech Group, signed the agreement on behalf of the respective parties.

“This is the first agreement under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between RTA and the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Government, Australia, aimed at enhancing the cooperation between both parties. RTA’s environmental-friendly plans call for increasing the number of electric and hybrid vehicles, improving energy-efficient facilities, upgrading streetlights, and reducing waste. It also aims to modify its buildings to achieve carbon neutrality in line with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050,” Bahrozyan said.

For his part, Dan Marks commented, “BusTech Group is proud to be working in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority on an electric bus trial. On the back of the collaboration Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads and Dubai’s RTA, BusTech Group looks forward to facilitating greater cooperation between Queensland and Dubai, and to deploying Australian designed and engineered zero-emissions technology buses into Dubai’s world-recognised public transport network.”
