HostDime’s Colombia Data Center First in Latin America to Achieve EDGE Green Certificate

BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA / ACCESSWIRE / April 21, 2023 / HostDime, a hyper-edge global data center company, is proud to announce its new Tier IV Colombia Data Center has received the EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certificate, which is awarded to buildings that demonstrate resource efficiency of at least 20 percent in energy, water, and embodied energy in materials.

EDGE is a green building standard and a global certification system developed by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation that certifies the design and resource efficiency of green buildings. EDGE is a measurable way for builders to optimize their designs to help create a sustainable future and provide better investment rates for HostDime and their clients.

HostDime’s Colombia “Nebula” Tier IV Data Center is the first data center in Latin America to meet these EDGE certification standards.

“We are very proud of obtaining the first EDGE Green Certificate in Latin America. Incorporating all these environmental features in our New Colombia Tier IV ‘Nebula’ Data Center allows us to operate one of the most sustainable data centers in the world. Our commitment is aligned with the broader data center industry’s ESG efforts. As we continue to build out our next-gen purpose built Tier IV Data Centers throughout Latin America, we will continue to adapt such sustainable features while also taking advantage of renewable energy sources,” says Edwin Tello, VP of HostDime Latin America.

Data centers account for an estimated 1% of worldwide electricity use, so the industry must be conscious of its responsibilities. ESG (environmental, social, and governance) considerations are crucial when designing, constructing, and operating purpose-built data centers. Taking ESG issues seriously maximizes operational efficiencies and reduces overall risks.

Power consumption can be used to measure data center efficiency. PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) is the measurement of how efficiently a data center uses energy. The lower the PUE, the better. While HostDime achieves at or under 1.3 PUE in their constructed data centers, most providers have a PUE in the 1.6 or higher range. Bringing PUE down across the data center industry is an obtainable and worthwhile objective. HostDime’s purposeful use of power-efficient electrical components, modular POD footprints, hot aisle containment, highest efficiency chillers, and renewable energy use all correspond to a large reduction in annualized PUE.

HostDime continues to carry out additional actions to improve energy efficiency in its purpose-built facilities in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and the USA.

Last year, HostDime invested $1.2 million in the construction of a solar power plant to support the entire power infrastructure of their João Pessoa, Brazil, data center, as well as a planned 30% expansion.

This year, HostDime will open their flagship data center and headquarters in Orlando, Florida. The rooftop of this facility will feature high-density solar panels; up to 1MW of the facility’s 5MW will be powered by the sun. Taking advantage of the Florida sun will reduce operating costs, lock-in energy costs, and decrease their carbon footprint.

“We are constantly evolving our data center designs and best practices to create energy efficiencies so that we can build and operate facilities that positively impact future generations.” – David Vivar, HostDime’s VP of Global Engineering.

HostDime’s green initiatives solidifies to their staff, customers, and the marketplace that ESG principles are held to the highest importance. Designing and building an environmentally friendly green data center should be a pattern followed by every new data center worldwide. On this Earth Day, we must take a stand and take care of our resources that are not infinite; together, we can do it.

About HostDime:

HostDime is a hyper-edge global data center company operating our owned purpose-built data center facilities in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and our flagship facility in Florida, USA, and with owned networks in the UK, India, and Hong Kong. Our mission is to design, build, and operate purpose-built, next-gen data center facilities at the global edge.

MP Al-Mousawi: The allocations for the development of the Regions do not cover the needs of the governorates, and there are efforts to raise them

MP for the Al-Sadiqoun Bloc, Ahmed Al-Mousawi, affirmed, on Saturday, the existence of parliamentary efforts to conduct a transfer of funds to support the development of the Regions in the 2023 budget.

Al-Mousawi said in a press statement reported by the bloc’s website: What was allocated in the 2023 budget for the development of the regions does not exceed 2.5 trillion ID, which represents a very small percentage that cannot cover the needs of the provinces, including Diyala, or at least finance ongoing projects.

He added that keeping what is allocated for the development of the regions within its current borders will put pressure on the provinces, which are in dire need of new projects and continuous funding, stressing the existence of parliamentary efforts that are currently being made in order to conduct a transfer of funds through the doors to support the development of the regions in the 2023 budget.

He pointed out: The increase in financial allocations for the governorates is extremely important, especially with the presence of projects that require direct ones, especially the ministerial ones, which have been lagging behind for years.

The provinces depend on the development of the regions as an annual budget to finance service projects in several areas.

Defense Minister: Red Sea & Bab al-Mandab are exclusively Yemeni, our forces are capable of securing maritime navigation

The Minister of Defense, Major General Muhammad Nasser Al-Atefi, said on Saturday: “The Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, the Gulf of Aden and their territorial waters are an exclusive Yemeni area, and our maritime sovereignty over them is complete, and we are responsible for providing the necessary protection for them, and securing regional and international navigation.”

The Minister of Defense confirmed, during a visit to the stationed members of the Fifth Military Region in Tuhaita, Al-Faza, Al-Hima coastal and Al-Jarrahi axes on the western coast, that “the time of guardianship over Yemen has passed forever.”

The Al-Atefi minister conveyed to the Almoravids and to all the free and honorable sons of Tihama, the congratulations and blessings of the leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the greetings of His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council – Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

He explained that “the situation today, and at this stage, is heading towards calm and reaching a comprehensive peace, and this all depends on the sincerity of the intentions of the leaders of the coalition of aggression with what was agreed upon with the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, and adherence to these understandings for the benefit of the region and its people, and in the forefront are the regional and international interests.” “.

The Minister of Defense warned the countries of the aggression coalition against any circumvention or maneuvers in dealing with these understandings, because any breach or evasion of any agreement or understanding will result in a loss for them, and will put them in endless predicaments.

He said: “Our sincere advice to the aggression, and to those who allied with them, is that they learn from previous lessons because our guns, cannons, missiles, and drones are ready, and they must make sure that the upcoming battles will not be inside Yemen as they imagine, but will be in the joints of the distant depth of the aggression, which will make them well aware of the meaning of great pain.” .

He pointed out that “what is happening today in terms of talks with the countries of aggression, and what is proposed by the revolutionary leadership represented by Sayyid Leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, who manages the stage’s data with wisdom, farsightedness, breadth and horizon, prioritizing the interest of the Yemeni people, as well as laying solid building blocks for security and stability in Yemen and the region.”

The Minister of Defense expressed his pride in what he witnessed during this visit of the high morale and readiness of the members of the Fifth Military Region, who had a major role in confronting the enemies on the western coast. He commended the competence and capabilities of the military region’s command, which has the upper hand in the successes, achievements and victories achieved against the aggression and its mercenaries.

He addressed the heroic Almoravids: “You are the glory of Yemen and the future of the nation, and on whom the leadership and the Yemeni people bet, after God Almighty, in supporting Islam and Muslims against the enemies, dependents, and normalizers with the Zionist enemy.” He stressed that “the Yemeni armed forces will be the thorn in the neck of the Zionists and those who support them.” .

Major General Al-Atefi praised the distinguished role of the brave sons of Tihama, and the sacrifices they made on this front alongside the members of the armed forces.

He said: “We thank the people of Tihama from the bottom of our hearts who have tasted woe to the enemies, and inflicted upon them bitter defeats on the western coast front, and what I observed today of high readiness and morale is a source of pride and glory, which made us reach complete conviction that the invaders will not stay in the land of Yemen for long, and in it such valiant heroes and free and honorable men”.

While the logistician of the Fifth Military Region, Brigadier General Hamza Abu Talib, delivered a speech in which he affirmed that “the enemy, in this sensitive stage of the armistice (the stage of no peace and no war), bet that the members of the Yemeni armed forces would be lazy and weak, but what we found today of high morale it reflects what the enemies expected.”

He said, “The heroes increased during periods of truce in faith, steadfastness, training, fortification, and qualification to confront aggression and mercenaries.”

In turn, the commander of the Seventh Brigade, Humat al-Sahel, Brigadier General Abdullah Abdo al-Atifi, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the visit of the Minister of Defense to the stationed in the fields of pride and dignity.

He said, “It is a great blessing for the Minister of Defense to be present with the stationed in the positions of heroism and courage,” noting that “these truces have increased their awareness, insight, faith, and military preparation, which makes them ready for all options.”

He added, “We renew the pledge and loyalty to the leader of the revolution, and we say to him: We are fully prepared, and the people of Tihama are steadfast and remain faithful to the pledge and loyalty in fighting the enemies until God writes victory for us.”
