TEHRAN, 25th October, 2016 (WAM) — An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the open-ended Richter scale today jolted Bardaskan city in the northern province of Khorasan in the northeast of Iran.

According to the Irna News Agency, there were no immediate reports on the possible damage or of injuries caused by the earthquake.

Iran sits astride several major faults in the earth’s crust, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
