5.8 magnitude quake jolts strongly parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, 3rd January, 2016 (WAM) -- 5.8 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale strongly jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan's northwest and the capital Islamabad yesterday. The earthquake centered in the Hindu Kush mountains on the boarder of Afghanistan at a depth of 175 kilometers.

News reports said that the quake triggered panic among the people in the provinces of the region and Islamabad but there was no information on casualties or damage caused by the quake.
