JAKARTA, 21st December, 2016 (WAM) — An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit Eastern Indonesia earlier today.

According to the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics, BMKG, the quake was centred 184 km northeast of Maluku Barat Daya regency in Maluku province at a depth of 173 km.

There were no immediate reports on the possible damage or injuries caused by the earthquake.
