ABU DHABI, 5th December, 2016 (WAM) – Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, will host the first ever Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament from 12th – 13th December, here at Emirates Palace.
The summit will bring together 100 international figures to envision the future besides 1,000 more participants from all over the world and 400 parliamentarians representing 50 states, as well as 100 Arab parliamentarians and 200 young people in the first dialogue between Speakers of Parliaments and the world youth.
The event will be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
The world’s largest gathering of women Speakers of Parliaments will be co-hosted by the Federal National Council, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The theme of the summit is ‘United for Shaping the Future,’ which will focus on the role that women Speakers can play in uniting parliamentarians around national and political interests to deliver sustainable prosperity and security for present and future generations in a rapidly changing world.
