ABU DHABI, The Attorney-General of Abu Dhabi, Ali Mohammed Al Balushi, said that the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution has begun implementing the order of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to pardon inmates of punitive and corrective institutions on the occasion of the UAE's 46th National Day.
The procedures were initiated in coordination with the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, to ensure the return of prisoners to their families during the country's celebrations on the National Day.
Al Balushi expressed his gratitude and thanks to President Khalifa for his decision, which he said was welcomed by all people in the country, locals and residents alike. He added that this gesture will provide pardoned prisoners with an opportunity for a new lease of life, and called for other prisoners to demonstrate good behaviour while incarcerated to be given a chance of amnesty in the future.
He also thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, for his support to the Public Prosecution in the emirate and his keenness to consolidate the principles of justice and the rule of law.
Al Balushi emphasised that the successive initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa have always been the strongest incentive for inmates to commit themselves to good conduct and the use of training and rehabilitation opportunities to have priority in obtaining the pardon.
He conveyed his sincere congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, the Crown Princes, and the people of the UAE to continue celebrate this national occasion, and wished them more progress, health and prosperity.
