Al Arabi confirms Arab League's solidarity with Iraq in its war against terrorism

CAIRO, 12th May, 2016 (WAM) -- Dr. Nabil Al Arabi, Arab League Secretary-General, denounced the terrorist bombing on Wednesday that targeted a popular market in Sadr City, east of Baghdad, which caused dozens of deaths and injuries to innocent civilians.

In a statement, Dr. Al Arabi confirmed the Arab League's support for the efforts of the Iraqi government to defeat the Daesh terrorist organisation and to fight against terrorism and extremist groups.

He called on all Iraqi political leaders to unite and put an end to political division in order to take the opportunity to resist terrorist organisations and extremist groups that seek to promote division and fuel sedition, as well as undermine Iraq's security and stability.

Dr. Al Arabi reaffirmed the organisation's full solidarity with the Iraqi government and people in all its components in the war being waged to defeat Daesh.

He extended his sincere condolences and sympathy to the Iraqi people and the families of the innocent victims, wishing for a speedy recovery for those injured in this tragic terrorist incident.
