CAIRO, -- Al-Azhar, Egypt's main Islamic centre of scholarship, has strongly condemned a terrorist attack on the Champs-Elysees in Paris that left one police officer dead and two others wounded.

In a statement, Al-Azhar reiterated its rejection of such terrorist acts that go against the teachings of Islam and other divine religions, human traditions and international law.

It further reiterated its call for concerted international efforts to develop with a strategy to fight and eliminate the evils of terrorism from the world. WAM/MMYS
