LIBYA, 3rd January, 2016 (WAM) — Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, has met with Akila Saleh Issa, President of Libya’s House of Representatives and Abdullah al-Thani, Head of the Interim Government, along with a number of MPs.
During the meeting, Al Jarwan said that the visit comes as Arab support for the Libyan people, and confirms to the international community that Libya is not standing alone, but has the support of all the Arab people.
Akila Saleh Issa praised the support of the United Arab Emirates for the Libyan people, pointing out that the UAE has never held back in providing support for the Libyan people and that this positions will not be forgotten.
Issa welcomed the visit of Al Jarwan and said that the visit represents major support for the Libyan people under the conditions currently being experienced by them and it is the first official visit by an Arab official at this level. He said that Libya is now in dire need of support from its sisterly Arab countries “in the light of foreign interventions that are trying to implement their own agenda.”
Abdullah al-Thani welcomed the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, and said that his visit reflects the Arab people’s support for the will of Libyan people to build a state and to serve all its citizens.
The Arab Parliament delegation included Dr. Abdul Salam, Libyan member of Parliament, Dr. Adel Al-Jamal, Political Adviser to the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, and Muthar Abdul Rahim, Director of Office of the Speaker of Parliament.
