CAIRO, 7th March, 2016 (WAM) — Ahmed Mohammed Al Jarwan, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, has expressed his rejection of the harassment to which Arab refugees are being subjected to on the Macedonian borders with Greece, which caused an increase in the number of tents put up by thousands of migrants on the Greek side of the border with Macedonia.

Al-Jarwan also expressed deep concern over the inhumane conditions under which refugees were living in this area and the Macedonian authorities’ use of teargas to prevent them from crossing into the country to transit to northern European countries.

He said the closure policy adopted by some European countries is viewed as setback for the rights included in the international convention on refugee rights and the European Union’s legislations on the protection of refugees.
