RIYADH, 3nd August, 2016 (WAM) – The Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation (ARCO) hailed the health aid and projects provided by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) under the follow up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of ERC, to Yemen in general and Aden in particular.
The aid provided by the ERC has reached AED50 million, making it the second largest donor in Yemen after King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre of Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation (ARCO), Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al Suhaibani, said that the new support provided by the ERC to Al Joumhouria Hospital in Khormaksar, Aden would contribute towards promoting health services in the over-populated city.
He also noted that the authority has exerted large efforts to revamp the hospital and other health institutions in Yemen. He also hailed the distinguished relief activities provided by the ERC.
Al Suhaibani added that the ERC, under the wise leadership of Sheikh Hamadan bin Zayed, the active administration of Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of Emirates Red Crescent, Secretary-General Dr. Mohamed Atiq Al Falahi and the ERC’s teamwork, has presented a role model in the humanitarian field.
He also stressed the importance of rallying relief efforts among all Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross associations, and humanitarian organisations, to provide assistance to the people of Yemen.
