RIGA, April 15 (LETA) – Azerbaijan is earnestly preparing for the upcoming Riga Summit in May to represent itself on a high level, this according to Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov, during a meeting with Latvian President Andris Berzins.
The Presidential Press Service informed LETA that during the meeting, both officials discussed Latvia-Azerbaijan relations, cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Azerbaijan, and the priorities of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU, as well as matters related to regional security.
During the meeting, both officials also discussed the upcoming Riga Summit, which will focus on issues regarding the Eastern Partnership. Azerbaijan’s minister confirmed that the country is earnestly preparing for the Riga Summit to represent itself on a high level.
They also discussed EU-Transcaucasus joint energy matters, and emphasized the excellent economic cooperation between Latvia and Azerbaijan.
At the end of the meeting, Mammadyarov invited Berzins to visit Baku 2015 European Games in June 12-28. The inaugural event will gather about 6,000 athletes from 50 countries.
