Crown Prince hosts iftar for third cohort of Hussein Fellowship programme

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Tuesday hosted an iftar at Al Husseiniya Palace for the third cohort of the Hussein Fellowship, a Crown Prince Foundation programme that trains young leaders.

According to a royal court statement, Crown Prince Al Hussein said participants in the programme are partners in building the future, stressing the importance of implementing the skills they gained on the ground.

The programme is aimed at offering opportunities to youth across Jordan’s governorates to enhance their competitiveness and hone their skills.

Ministry of Interior spokesman clarifies circumstances of what happened in Rada’a district in Al-Bayda

The spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Abdul Khaliq Al-Ajri, expressed the ministry’s regret over the painful incident in the city of Rada’a in Al-Bayda province, which resulted in the death of a number of security men and citizens.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior explained in a statement received by Saba that the incident, which occurred in the Rada’a district of Al-Bayda governorate, occurred as a result of a mistake by some security men during the implementation of a security campaign to pursue some saboteurs who attacked security men earlier, which led to the death of two security men and the injury of others.

While security agents were pursuing the saboteurs, some individuals used excessive and illegal force in an irresponsible response without returning and taking instructions from the security leadership or the Interior Ministry’s knowledge, he said.

Brigadier General Al-Ajri pointed out that the Ministry of Interior has formed urgent field committees to investigate
the details of the incident that took place in the Radaa district. He pointed out that the Minister of Interior directed to arrest the perpetrators involved in the incident and refer them to justice.

He stressed that the ministry will not tolerate the arrest of any transgressor of security men or members of the security institution in any region and anyone who violates the law or violates the ethics of security work and the obligations of the security man. He pointed out that the Minister of Interior also directed compensation for the families of the victims and those affected by the incident.

Brigadier General Al-Ajri pointed out that the Minister of Interior expressed regret for what happened in the Radaa district, stressing that the security men can only be protectors of the security and tranquility of the homeland and the citizen.

Israeli Forces Arrest 7,670 Palestinians in West Bank Since October 7

The tally of arrests conducted by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the aggression on the Gaza Strip started on October 7 has surged to 7,670 individuals.

In a joint statement released by the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners’ Authority along with the Palestinian Prisoners Society on Tuesday, it was disclosed that 15 Palestinians from the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, including journalist Rula Hassanein and former detainees, were apprehended.

The sweep of arrest operations spanned across various regions including Jenin, Qalqilya, Ramallah, Hebron, and Jerusalem. Reports accompanying the arrest campaign outlined instances of widespread raids, physical abuse, severe beatings, and threats leveled against detainees and their families. Additionally, there were reports of rampant sabotage and demolition of Palestinian residences.

These systematic arrest campaigns stand as stark manifestations of the enduring policies enacted by occupation forces. They serve a
s pivotal components of the strategy of collective punishment, emblematic of the broader tactics employed by the occupation in targeting Palestinians, said the statement. These actions unfold against the backdrop of sustained aggression against the Palestinian populace and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza since October 7, it added.

Kyrgyzstan First Lady and UAE Knowledge Exchange delegation reviews initiatives to enhance society wellbeing

DUBAI: The First Lady of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aigul Japarov, met Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and a delegation from the UAE Knowledge Exchange Office, to review a number of initiatives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic aiming to enhance society wellbeing.

This came as part of the visit of the UAE Knowledge Exchange Office delegation to Kyrgyzstan, where they witnessed the launch of new initiatives and projects within the strategic partnership between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan in the field of government modernization.

The First Lady accompanied the UAE delegation on a visit to one of the orphanages, during which Kyrgyzstan’s experience in the field of community development and providing care for orphaned children was presented. Moreover, the delegation was briefed on some of the government initiatives aimed at enhancing the society’s overall wellbeing.

During the visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, the UAE delegation participated in laun
ching the ‘Young Leaders Programme’ and the second cohort of the Kyrgyz Government Accelerators, in events attended by senior government officials.

Earlier in 2021, the governments of the UAE and the Kyrgyz Republic launched a strategic partnership in the field of government modernisation, through a bilateral cooperation agreement signed by Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan. The agreement included 9 pillars namely, government accelerators, capacity building, economy, youth, sustainability, coding, government development, government services, and government excellence.
