CAIRO, The Council of the Arab League condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Kandahar that killed five UAE diplomats who were on a humanitarian, developmental and educational mission in Afghanistan.
In a statement issued at the end of the preparatory meeting ahead of the fourth Arab-Russian Co-operation Forum in Cairo today, the council expressed its solidarity with the government and people of the UAE and families of the martyrs.
The council reiterated its denunciation of all forms of terrorism, calling for concerted international efforts to counter the abhorrent phenomenon in a decisive, strong way as it poses growing threat to international peace and security.
The council also stressed the importance of full compliance with international principles for protection of diplomatic representatives as per the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
