Anadolu Agency Monday reported that the leader of Daesh, Abu al-Hussein al-Qurashi, who was cornered by Turkish intelligence in Syria in a 4-hour operation, blew himself up before arrest. Anadolu reported that the Turkish intelligence service had received information that al-Qurashi was in the Jenderes area of Afrin in northern Syria and that he had planned to relocate. It added that a team of Turkish intelligence carried out a secret operation at the end of April on the house where al-Qurashi was hiding, noting that the house contained a camouflaged underground hideout and that al-Qurashi was asked to surrender himself, an offer he refused.
