ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, stated that goodness always comes from good people and goes to good people, and that the people of the UAE have a long history of providing charity and helping people in need.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak further said that the declaration that 2017 would be the Year of Giving by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan came at the right time. She stated that the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had a long history in the promotion of values of giving, as his life provided many examples of working to achieve improved standards of living for his people, and all humanity.
She added that the UAE's giving has no limits, and will continue under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Rulers of Emirates.
She also stressed that the Year of Giving initiative carries a strong vision for the generations to come to be ambitious, proud of their identity and work hard to achieve better lives for all of humanity.
Sheikha Fatima affirmed that UAE women are responsible for many achievements in the country, and have many duties in the field of volunteering and social responsibility.
Moreover, Sheikha Fatima said that volunteer work is considered to be one of the cornerstones of the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and is one of the main building blocks of creating communities, and in their development. She added that volunteer work is considered one of the key human practices linked to social responsibility.
At the end of her speech, Sheikha Fatima called upon citizens of the UAE to generously contribute to this initiative in the UAE, which has given them so much. She stressed that their love and pride of the nation has to be proven by actions and by taking responsibility in order to achieve stability in the nation, in the memory of the nation's martyrs who have sacrificed their lives to preserve the dignity of the nation.
