DUBAI, 7th October, 2016 (WAM) — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a ceremony to recognise the winners and partners of the Ideal Home initiative, launched by DEWA as part of its ongoing awareness campaigns and strategic plans consolidate the foundations of environmental sustainability in Dubai.
It also supports DEWA’s efforts to achieve the Smart Dubai initiative launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.
DEWA honoured the winners and partners at the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) which is organised by DEWA under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and President of DEWA. WETEX took place on 4-6 October 2016 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
DEWA launched the Ideal Home service in cooperation with Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, the Community Development Authority, Dubai Smart Government, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and the Directorate General of Civil Defence. The service supports DEWA’s efforts to develop government work and enhance happiness in society. It instils a culture of an ideal and happy home environment among families through meeting the integrated requirements of the eight partners. The initiative recognises home owners who implement the highest standards of environmental protection, sustainability, public health, safety, social responsibility, and smart transformation.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, honoured the winners. Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of the Dubai Health Authority, Khaled Al Kamda, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, Khalifa Hassan Aldrai, Executive Director, Dubai Corporation Ambulance Services, Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government Establishment, were present at the cermony.
The work team from Dubai Police attended on behalf of Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Daoud Al-Hajri, Assistant Director General for Engineering and Planning at Dubai Municipality attended on behalf of Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, and Major Saif Al Hamour, Director of Civil Defence Strategy attended on behalf of Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General, of Dubai Civil Defence. A number of officials from the government and private sector were also present.
“The Vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed is the roadmap that we follow to provide a brighter and happier future for Dubai. In DEWA, we are committed to achieving sustainability everywhere. Sustainability has become a pillar of development, and an approach followed by the UAE,” said Al Tayer.
The first-place winner received an electric car and a free Green Charger card for one year. Other winners received cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for their efforts.
