CAIRO, 8th May, 2016 (WAM) — An Egyptian police officer and seven conscripts have been killed in an attack carried out by unknown gunmen in Helwan in the southern part of Cairo.

The Middle East News Agency, MENA, quoted a source at the Egyptian Interior Ministry as saying that unknown gunmen shot dead a police officer and seven conscripts while they were on patrol in a police bus in the early hours of Sunday morning, adding that the attackers, who were sitting in a small truck, exited their vehicle and opened fire on the police bus, leaving all officers dead.

Prosecutors later arrived at the scene to conduct investigations.
