CAIRO, 27th December, 2015 (WAM) — Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Russia’s special presidential envoy on the Syria settlement, Alexander Lavrentiev, on Saturday discussed efforts by the international community to counter the Daesh terrorist group, the Egyptian president’s office said Saturday.

The meeting focused on efforts being made at global and regional levels to combat Daesh. Both sides reaffirmed the need to block the source of the terrorist group’s funding and weapons supplies, and stressed that no side can be allowed to use the conflict in Syria for its “selfish political interests”.
