CAIRO, 18th October, 2015 (WAM) — Dr. Nabil El-Araby, Secretary-General of the Arab League, has met with Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and North Africa, to discuss the latest developments in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Secretary-General emphasised the Arab stance that calls for international protection for Palestinian people, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Christian and Muslim places of worship in East Jerusalem, in order to put an end to Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people.

Dr. El-Araby also reviewed the recent developments of the situation in Syria. Discussions covered the circumstances that prompted Russia to increase military intervention in Syria against ISIS. Bogdanov confirmed that Russia had committed to working with various parties in order to find a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis according to the Geneva I Conference on Syria, on June 30th, 2012, by the international Working Group.
