CAIRO, 28th June, 2016 (WAM) — Dr. Nabil Elaraby, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack which targeted a hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, killing 25 civilians, including Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, Bur’i Mohamed Hamza. The act was claimed by Al- Shabab group.

In a statement, the Secretary-General expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Somalia and its people, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured, stressing that these terrorist attempts will not discourage the Somali government and its people’s continued efforts in building the Somali State’s institutions.

The Secretary-General called for a comprehensive countering of terrorist operations taking place in Somalia by providing all forms of support to the Somali forces and African Union Mission to Somalia, AMISOM.
