AL MUKALLA, 2nd November, 2016 (WAM) — In a bid to resolve the issue of power shortage in the Directorate of Mukalla in Yemen, the UAE delivered on Wednesday spare parts and filters that will help bolster the power sector.

The move is part of the framework to ease the burden on Yemeni citizens who have to endure periodic power cuts. The ship docked at the Al Mukalla wharf in Hadramaut.

The initiative is an extension of the UAE relief campaign carried out through the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, to meet the requirements of Yemen in areas such as education, health and infrastructure, said Mattar Al Ketbi, head of the UAE relief team in Hadramaut.

The current shipment is the fourth one delivered to the power sector on the Hadramaut coast, he added.

The shipment will help maintain the central electric generators and dilapidated substations in the Directorate of Al Mukalla, Al Ketbi said.

He stressed that the ERC continues to providing humanitarian relief projects in health, education and other sectors to strengthen infrastructure and economic development projects.
