ABYAN, The people of Shaqraa district in the governorate of Abyan and Al Areeb area, Yemen, including the surrounding villages, today started to receive around 300 food baskets provided by the UAE's premier humanitarian aid arm, Emirates Red Crescent, as part of the authority's Ramadan aid prograame and "Year of Zayed" initiatives.

Khalid Ibrahim, Relief Coordinator-General in Abyan, extended sincere appreciation to the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the continued humanitarian and relief operations undertaken through the country's top humanitarian support provider in Abyan to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people under the tough circumstances they are going through.

The areas where the aid supplies were distributed today are considered among the most plagued by the war where a large number of displaced Yemenis are living after fleeing their original lands as a result of the practices perpetrated by the Houthi militias.
