DUBAI, The Federal Electricity and Water Authority, FEWA, has won two awards in the "International Business Excellence Awards" at its fourth edition, 2018.

The two awards were for "Sustainability Category" and "Overall Score" were received by Maha Mohammed, Director of Strategy and The Future Department, and Omar Al Shehhy, Director of Quality and Corporate Excellence Section.

The International Business Excellence Awards is organised annually by the UK-based Awards International Organisation in collaboration with Department of Economic Development in Dubai, with a large number of local, regional and international institutions participating to review their outstanding initiatives and projects. 36 local, regional, and international institutions took place in the awards this year, with 123 presentations in 34 categories of 18 diverse business sectors.

The sustainability category focuses on the strategies and projects that have a direct impact on global sustainability issues in key aspects, particularly energy, climate change, natural resources, and pollution. In this context, FEWA's presentation was about Ghalila Desalination Plant where the latest desalination technologies in the world are utilised. It receive the award of the best reverse osmosis water desalination plant for 2016.

The Director General, Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, expressed his happiness with this achievement, pointing out that the efforts exerted by FEWA are in implementation of the Government's directives in the areas of sustainability and conservation of natural resources, which contribute to realizing the UAE Vision 2021.
