DHAKA, 21st May, 2016 (WAM) — Five people were killed due to storm and landslide as cyclone ‘Roanu’, hit Bhola, Chittagong and Patuakhali in Bangladesh on Saturday morning.

Strong winds and heavy downpours unleashed by the storm have forced tens of thousands to flee their homes, according to Dhaka Tribune newspaper.

Officials said the cyclone was expected to hit the Bangladesh coast around 12:00 pm local time (0600 GMT) packing winds of 88 kilometres (54 miles) per hour.

The cyclonic storm is likely to move in East-northeasterly direction further and may cross Barisal-Chittagong coast anytime soon, causing a storm surge of 4-5 feet height above normal tide, according to 9am bulletin of Dhaka Met Office.
