KABUL, 12th October, 2015 (WAM) — A British Puma Mk2 military helicopter has crashed in the capital, Kabul, killing five members of NATO’s international support mission in Afghanistan, including two military officers from the British Air Force, and injuring five others.

NATO explained in a statement that the helicopter crashed while landing at NATO headquarters, where Afghani military troops are trained.

According to the BBC, a UK Ministry of Defence spokesman said that the crash was an accident and not the result of insurgent activity.

The accident brings the number of British military personnel killed in Afghanistan to 456 since Britain joined the NATO operations in Afghanistan in October 2001.
