The visits come as part of enacting the FNC's strategic plan for 2016-2021, including promoting social participation, communication with citizens and activities for the general public and all institutions, authorities and federal authorities.
The FNC members aimed to visit the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Marine Research Centre, Umm Al Qaiwain Hospital, the ancient Ed-Dur site that is managed by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, and Martyrs' City.
Dr. Al Qubaisi stated that the council's strategy, which it adopted during the current 16th Legislative Term for 2016-2021, is based on a group of national concepts. In their forefront is the Political Empowerment Programme of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, that he announced in 2005, which included promoting social participation as a means of strengthening closeness and communication between the council and the people of the federation, as part of the council's desire to practice its legislative and supervisory specialties and achieve the best parliamentary performance, in partnership with the executive authority for it to be effective, contributing to the sustainable inclusive development of different areas of the country.
She added that the council's field visits in the different emirates of the country opened a new phase in its operations, highlighting its desire to achieve the national goals of its strategic plan, which includes many projects, initiatives, programmes and social participation.
She further added that the council's strategy relies on strengthening co-operation and co-ordination between government authorities and supporting programmes and achieving the country's vision and its general policies, in addition to strengthening social integration by supporting citizens' participation in the council's activities, highlighting community cases and developing legislative and supervisory performance, confirming that the council is a representative of the Federation's people and expressing its ambitions through effectively practicing its constitutional duties.
She noted the FNC desires to perform a vital role with regional and international parliamentary unions and institutions, which supports the UAE's leading position, as well as developing relations with non-parliamentary international organisations. She said that this visit is the FNC's third, after two previous visits to Fujairah and Ras al-Khaimah.
