ISLAMABAD, -- Members of the West Asia group at the Asian Parliament have named the Parliamentary Division of the UAE Federal National Council as the group's co-ordinator, during the ninth session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Pakistan's capital.

FNC member and Chair of the group's financial and administrative committee, Dr. Saeed Al Mutawa, chaired the first meeting, which includes the legislatures of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Palestine, Jordan and Yemen.

He described the selection of the division as the latest success of the UAE's parliamentary diplomacy.

The division will co-ordinate with the West Asia group and consider all proposals about the foundations and principles of the Asian Parliament.

The Asian Parliament will act as a unified group at international parliamentary meetings and is in line with a global trend of enhancing joint action, Al Mutawa said.
