ABU DHABI, 8th November, 2016 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, received Stephen O’Brien, the UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, here today.

The two officials discussed ways to boost co-operation between the UAE and the United Nations, as well as the current humanitarian programmes undertaken by the UN in countries affected by disasters and conflicts.

Their talks also included latest regional and international developments.

During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed said that under its leadership’s directives, the UAE is keen to build and sustain partnerships with international organisations involved in humanitarian and developmental works.

O’Brien lauded the UAE’s pioneering role in providing support and humanitarian aid to various communities.

The meeting was also attended by Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation for International Development Affairs.
