RIYADH, 29th October, 2015 (WAM) — Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, GCC Secretary-General, has said that the leaders of the GCC countries are interested in education in general and higher education in particular, as they believe that education is the successful way for sustainable development of the societies.
During the 21st meeting of the committee of universities’ presidents, Al-Zayani stressed the need to upgrade higher education and its programmes to achieve development in all GCC member states. He expressed his trust that efforts of universities in GCC countries would lead to further integration and cooperation to serve GCC citizens.
Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted Al Zayani as saying, “Building human capacity through knowledge is a key axis that should be taken into consideration when making strategic plans for development.”
The meeting covered a number of academic and scientific issues that interest universities and institutions of higher education in GCC countries. It also touched on equality among GCC citizens in terms of joining government higher education institutions and joint investment in education.
