MANAMA, 10th December,2016 (WAM)– Ways of bolstering and promoting existing military relations between the United States and the Co-operation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, GCC, were the focus of talks held today by US Army General Joseph Votel, Commander of the Central Command, Centcom, and Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the six-member regional bloc.

The duo also discussed the security situation in the region and issues of common concern during the meeting which sought to serve the common interests of the US and the GCC and security and stability in the region.

Dr. Al Zayani and General Votel held their meeting on the fringe of the IISS Manama Dialogue 2016, the primary security forum for the Middle East being held in Bahrain from 9th to 11th December by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, IISS, to bring together the highest concentration of policymakers involved in regional security to date, to address challenges in this strategically vital region.
