Gulf Coordination Committee on Humanitarian Aid to discuss joint projects to support Syrian refugees in Lebanon

RIYADH, 12th November, 2015 (WAM) -- The Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, will next Sunday host the first meeting of the Permanent Committee for the Coordination on Humanitarian Aid provided by Red Crescent authorities and societies in the GCC countries.

The committee will develop the practical mechanism for the implementation of joint projects to face the critical circumstances of Syrian refugees in winter in Lebanon, as provided by the Red Crescent authorities and societies in the GCC countries on the ground before the start of the winter season.

The committee also will participate in a workshop for coordinating relief and humanitarian efforts for the Yemeni people, which will be held on 16th and 17th of the November at the headquarters of the secretariat, with the participation of The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and the High Commission for Relief in the Republic of Yemen.

The committee will review actions implemented by Red Crescent authorities in GCC countries in the field of relief and humanitarian work in the Republic of Yemen.

The Committee was formed by senior officials of Red Crescent authorities and societies in GCC countries during their third meeting, in October, 2015, in Doha, to coordinate their efforts in the field of humanitarian relief.
