Islamabad, 11th March, 2016 (WAM) – Five people, including three minor girls lost their life in Sherani district of Balochistan Province as torrential rains have wreaked havoc in several districts of the province.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority said that three other people have also died in Chaghi and Mastung districts of the province. Heavy rainfall has affected dozens of houses in towns adjoining villages. At least three people were killed today in rain-triggered road accident near Islamabad.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a warning that heavy downpours may generate urban flooding in major cities and flash flooding in the vulnerable areas of Balochistan with heavy rain in Punjab Khyber Pakhtun khwa and parts of Sind provinces.

In a weather advisory, MET Department predicted that the decaying phase of prevailing El Nino is indicating some strong signals regarding extraordinary rains in South Asia, including Pakistan during the current month.

Widespread rains is expected in Islamabad and will continue the whole week.
