ABU DHABI -- The 8th Zayed Humanitarian Forum has adopted a proposal to establish the Zayed Humanitarian Work Academy as the first such institution in the Arab region to prepare a generation of humanitarian leaders.

The proposal is in line with the Year of Giving initiative declared by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It also coincides with the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day.

The Academy will help promote a culture of philanthropy and humanitarian action through specialised programmes conducted by local and international experts from prestigious universities and institutions.

A team from non-profit government and non-government organisations will oversee the Academy, according to Dr. Adel Al-Shameri, CEO of Zayed Giving Initiative.

The new institution will be a partnership between The National Training (Tadreeb) and the Zayed Giving Initiative.
