TUNIS, 16th February, 2016 (WAM)–Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, has paid an official visit to Tunisia, where he met a number of Tunisian officials.

During the meeting with Tunisian President Beji Qaid Essebsi, al-Jaafari discussed ways to strengthen relations between Tunisia and Iraq. They also tackled regional issues of common concern.

After the meeting, Al Jaafari said he discussed with the Tunisian President issues of mutual interest and the latest developments in Arab countries, as well as challenges faced by Iraq.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister said the talks also touched on the security challenges in Iraq and bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of tourism, education and trade exchange.

Al Jaafari also met with his Tunisian counterpart Khemais Jhinaoui, and discussed with him bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments.
