BEIRUT, 12th January, 2016 (WAM) — Iraqi Parliament Speaker, Salim al-Jabouri, has upped calls for solidarity and unity among Arabs in order to eradicate rampant terrorism, urging the international community to help Iraq overcome its crises.

Al-Jabouri, speaking after a meeting with Lebanon’s House Speaker, Nabih Berri, in Beirut, said, “As a matter of fact, Iraq nowadays is through a stage of victories over Daesh, and it is on the right track to absolutely end the terrorism that has taken over provinces. This internal effort still needs Arab solidarity, adoption of positions, and ending of discords and crises,” according to the National News Agency of Lebanon, NNA.

“Iraq is part of the Arab system. It wishes to assume this very role. And Arab people must unite,” he maintained.

“Iraq now is in need of the support of the international community to overcome its crises,” he added, reminding all that the refugees’ plight also requires intensive international endeavours.
