ROME, 5th December, 2016 (WAM) — Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of Italy, yesterday resigned after voters rejected his constitutional reforms.

According to Reuters, Renzi said, “I take full responsibility for the defeat,” adding that he would hand in his formal resignation to President Sergio Mattarella on Monday.

Between 54 and 58 percent of Italians rejected the constitutional amendments, while 42-46 percent approved them.
