Tokyo, 8th June, 2016 (WAM) – Japan’s current account surplus in April rose 41.7 pct from a year before to 1,878.5 billion yen, the Ministry of Finance said Wednesday.
The result came against the median forecast of 2,318.9 billion yen among 20 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
Japan logged a goods and services trade surplus of 295.9 billion yen against, the year-before deficit of 663.6 billion yen, ministry said in a preliminary report.
In goods trade, Japan’s surplus totaled 697.1 billion yen, against the year-before deficit of 132 billion yen. Exports were down 10.4 pct at 5,603 billion yen, and imports were down 23.1 pct at 4,905.9 billion yen.
The surplus on the primary income account shrank 18.9 pct to 1,780.5 billion yen.
