AMMAN, 3rd January, 2016 (WAM) — Jordan has strongly condemned the storming of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran yesterday, and said it constitutes a flagrant violation of the international law and relevant conventions.

Mohammad Momani, Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs and Government spokesperson, voiced Jordan’s solidarity and support for Saudi Arabia in facing extremism and terrorism. He also condemned Iranian interference and anti-Saudi Arabia rhetoric following the execution of convicted Saudi persons.

The Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted Momani as saying, “Diplomatic missions should be protected and respected in line with international law.”

Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi Embassy in the Iranian capital in the early hours of Sunday, starting fires before being removed by the police.
