WASHINGTON, 12th January, 2016 (WAM) — King Abdullah II of Jordan and US Secretary of State John Kerry have discussed a number of Middle East issues and efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.

According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the talks dealt with the ongoing crisis in Syria and King Abdullah emphasised that the international community needs to step up its efforts to find a comprehensive solution to the war in Syria and end the suffering of the Syrian people.

They also discussed means to revive the Palestinian-Israel peace negotiations in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

Kerry stressed Washington’s support for Jordan, commending efforts made by King Abdullah II to address regional and global challenges. He said his country remains committed to working with all stakeholders to support peacemaking efforts in the Middle East.
