ASTANA, 30th May, 2016 (WAM)–xxxx. Greece. She said the UAE’s participation in the 9th session of Astana Economic Forum, which concluded last week, “is a clear proof the UAE backs Kazakhstan in various areas.”

Dr. Al Quabisi said, “The Forum was a unique platform for international dialogue in light of the presence of a distinctive group of decision-makers and representatives of the private sector. It allowed actors to discuss economic development issues, whether related to the Central Asian region, or regarding changes in the global economy as a whole.”

She commended Kazakhstan for organising the international conference entitled “Religions against Terrorism,” which was initiated by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. Dr. Al Qubaisi noted the move demonstrates efforts led by Kazakhstan to clarify the image of tolerant Islam.

The FNC speaker expressed confidence that Kazakhstan will succeed in hosting Expo 2017.

For her part, the Kazakh official welcomed the UAE delegation and congratulated Dr. Al Qubaisi’s election to lead the UAE parliament as a first woman to occupy such a post in the Arab world and the Middle East. She said the visit reflects the depth of bilateral relations, thanks to the support of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President of Kazakhstan.

Gulshara cited a number of projects being implemented by the UAE in Kazakstan, notably the huge UAE real estate project ‘Abu Dhabi Plaza’ in the heart of Kazakh capital, Astana, that coincides with Expo 2020 Astana.

The Kazakh official said the foreign trade exchange between the two countries stood at $270 million in 2015.
