KUWAIT, 15th January, 2017 (WAM) — The Kuwaiti Directorate-General of Civil Aviation, DGCA, on Sunday announced that a German airliner was confirmed ‘clear and safe’ after reports of a suspected bomb onboard.

Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted DGCA’s spokesman, Mansour Al-Hashemi, as saying, “The Eurowings flight had 299 passengers onboard and took off from Salalah, Oman en-route to Cologne, Germany.”

He added that captain of the plane requested an emergency landing at Kuwait International Airport in accordance with required safety regulations. According to Al-Hashemi, initial investigations confirmed the plane was explosives-free.
