KUWAIT, 16th February, 2016 (WAM) — Kuwait National Petroleum Company, KNPC, has launched its first units to produce biofuel in the Al-Ahmadi refinery, according to the company’s CEO, Mohammad Al-Mutairi.

The project contains new units with a production capacity of over 42,000 barrels per day, Al-Mutairi told the Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, on Tuesday. The biofuel project is part of Kuwait’s development plan and the 2030 strategic objectives of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, he added.

The new units will increase the refinery’s profits, while also reducing pollution by providing low-sulfur products, KUNA added. The project will also produce high quality substances such as gasoline at competitive prices, they said, adding that the launching process was fully safe and no accidents occurred during the execution of the project.
