NEW YORK, -- Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, has said that the UAE attaches great importance to women and their empowerment in various fields.

She pointed to the great support enjoyed by women in the UAE under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the attention and care of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, "Mother of the Nation".

Sheikha Lubna made the announcement during a ceremony on the launch of the "Women's Economic Empowerment" report, which was held in New York City on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.

The report aims to place women's economic empowerment at the top of the global agenda to accelerate progress under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
