Meeting chaired by Minister of Electricity to discuss implementation of capital project of lighting streets and tunnels

An expanded meeting chaired by the Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, discussed on Tuesday the steps of implementing the solar project to light the streets and tunnels of capital Sana’a.

At the meeting, which included the Secretary of the Capital Hamoud Abad, the Director of the General Electricity Corporation, Dr. Hashim Al-Shami, the Deputy Director of the Foundation for Financial Affairs, Abdullah Rubaid, the Distribution and Technical Inspection Sector, Engineer Mohammed Al-Shibani, and the Generating Sector, Engineer Tariq Ismail, the Undersecretary of the Capital Secretariat for Projects and Works Sector, Engineer Abdul Karim al-Houthi, agreed to implement the solar project by the General Electricity Corporation with funding from the Capital Secretariat.

The Minister of Electricity and Energy stressed the importance of this vital project, which follows the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council, to illuminate all the streets, tunnels and fountains of the Capital Secretariat, which will take between four and eight months to implement.

He stressed the importance of speeding up the project because it was important for the capital’s secretariat, which was the beating heart of Yemen, and its immunity.

The Secretary of the Capital noted that the 1 billion 27 million and 648,000 riyals project will serve a large segment of citizens and contribute to improving their aesthetic appearance.

In turn, the Director of the State Electricity Corporation confirmed that the project aims to generate 2 megawatts and will be implemented within the agreed period. The project is a practical translation of the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council to upgrade the electricity services of capital’s secretariat in a manner appropriate to it as the capital of the Republic of Yemen.
