ABU DHABI, 11th October 2016 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received President Isaias Afwerki in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Afwerki and discussed with him bilateral ties between the UAE and Eritrea and ways to enhance them. He also reviewed with him means to increase cooperation in economic, commercial and developmental fields.
Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, seeks to build relations with nations of the world on the basis of cooperation, friendship and mutual interests. He praised UAE’s progressive relations with Eritrea.
President Afwerki said he was pleased to visit the UAE. He lauded the progress made by the UAE in all fields and expressed his country’s willingness to expand joint cooperation with the UAE.
The two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments. They also discussed topics of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, members of the delegation accompanying the President of Eritrea, Humaid Saeed Al Neyadi, Deputy Director of the Presidential Affairs Minister’s Office and a number of senior officials.
