ABU DHABI, On behalf of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Mohamed bin Khaled Al Nahyan and Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, officially launched the 10th EmiratesSkills National Competition, which was organised by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ACTVET, and will be held for three days at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The launch was attended by Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of ACTVET, and other senior officials.
The officials toured the competition's various sections and learned about its processes, conditions for joining, standards of competing and methods of judging while meeting its 423 young Emirati male and female participants, who are competing in 57 engineering, technological and technical categories, with the participation of leading institutions.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa said that the competition is a national event that highlights the efforts of the wise leadership, headed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, to enable the UAE's youth to become key players in the country's diverse and comprehensive industrial future, which will require their knowledge of engineering specialisations that are crucial to all stages of the country's present and future advancement, as well as the launch of various development projects in areas such as renewable energy, space and aircraft technologies.
Dr. Al Shamsi said that the new edition of the competition is part of a strategy implemented by the wise leadership, to prepare innovative people who can create the future while highlighting the importance of the nation's efforts to discover and train Emiratis and improve their capabilities, with the aim of preparing future generations of the creative citizens who are can meet the requirements of the country's social development and its overall industrial, economic and social advancement. The UAE's pioneering regional and international efforts to improve its living conditions is something that the whole country is establishing and developing, according to the most advanced international standards, she added.
Al Hammadi said that the competition has proven, over many years, the abilities and skills of the students of the country's academic institutions while highlighting the increasing number and categories of participating students, who now include those with special needs, as well as the youth who presented impressive and diverse projects who then entered the world of business, guaranteeing a prosperous future for all its participants.
He also praised the success of ACTVET's various annual activities, which aim to achieve the interest of the nation and its people while highlighting his ministry's desire to cooperate and participate in these activities.
